I like the idea of a bird walk down the estuary. I wonder if we can tie that into something to do with business. Work / Life balance perhaps (though that was the subject of this month's WCEB meeting)? I guess the birds constant battle for winter survival is a bit like our struggle to survive in a recession. There has to be a moral there somewhere.

Hi David,

Why not just replace the header image (and maybe other images in the theme) with suitable birdie images as a quick-fix compromise?

Ultimately though it's the content that matters... the theme is just window dressing -- but then I guess we all know how a killer window display can pull in the punters....

This reminds me... must dust off one of my umpteen pet projects that's on the back burner... want www.irelandswildlife.com to be a sort of portal/community site for Ireland's wildlife enthusiast to gather, connect and discuss wildlife related content from around the web.

Also have www.irelandsnature.com.

What I don't have is time to anything with them at the moment.

Hi David... had a grey wagtail in the garden the other day. Lovely bird. But the highlight at this time of year has to be the three way pitched battle between the goldfinches, greenfinches and great tits at the garden feeders. No sign of the redwings and fieldfares yet this year... must be a good berry crop keeping them in Scandinavia.

A great idea for a site... look forward to seeing it in action, and to reading the blog as it evolves. I've been a keen birdwatcher since I was about ten... and while, like you I don't get out in the field as much as I'd like, I'm just as happy mooching about in the garden amidst the robins, blue tits and goldcrests.

Hey, if the weather's up to it early next year why don't we take the SOHO Solo West Cork crown on a birdwalk down the estuary to Rosscarbery pier... certainly better than being cooped up in the hotel.
